The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc.

Program Educational Objectives:

  1. Graduates in professional practice perform the duties of a Mechanical Engineer consistent with the expectations of employers.

  2. Graduates pursue advanced studies or engage in other life-long learning activities.

Program Outcomes:

  1. apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
  4. function on multi-disciplinary teams
  5. identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  6. understand professional and ethical responsibility
  7. communicate effectively
  8. understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context with a broad education
  9. recognize the need for, and engage in life-long learning
  10. be knowledgeable about contemporary issues
  11. use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
  12. be knowledgeable about chemistry and calculus-based physics with depth in at least one
  13. apply advanced mathematics through multivariate calculus and differential equations
  14. be familiar with statistics and linear algebra
  15. work professionally in the fluid/thermal systems area including the design and realization of such systems
  16. work professionally in the mechanical systems area including the design and realization of such systems
